Refshaleøen

Refshaleøen is a rare gem - an area shaped by sustained industrial forces that has created an opportunity for creative enterprise and allowed a special cultural environment to flourish. The premise of our proposal is to preserve the creative identity from shipyard to modern cultural force as a diver for the masterplan.

Instead of guidelines and massing models a promise of incentives preserves and maintain the conditions that enable a creative cultural quarter to succeed such as; low rent, open access, room variety, shared facilities, 'the third space', character, etc. Hereby, Refshaleøen is developed based on a promise to protect and strengthen the cultural and creative heritage that is already sprouting on the site and which is difficult to recreate in a new district.
