Torridon Gateway

Our inspiration was the intense yet calm landscape of Torridon. The steep mountain side with ancient rocks sweeping down meeting the open loch. The crescent village structure and it strong cultural heritage. The wilderness and interactive nature of the place and the site location right at the intersection of the loch, mountains and village.

Our proposal for the Torridon visitor centre is to create a place where people gather to seek out and make their own meaning rather than have it provided for them. In this place ‘interpretation’ will combine literal with metaphorical, tangible with intangible - a blend of things, information, sounds and images that can touch both our left- and right-brained ways of making sense of the world around us.
