The purpose of the regeneration is to restore, preserve and improve the property and add value to the Golden Lane Estate as well as the City of London. The transformation will provide an important link to the Cultural Mile as a place for more informal offers for the creative scene within and outside the estate.

Retrofit

The rationale is to ‘modernise’ the concept of today's Public House by offering a new type of public facilities while at the same time celebrating a piece of cultural heritage by bringing back the pub to its 1960s original state which had open façades, a central bar and a bistro. Re-create the interior with its significant timber panelling and furniture’s. Remove all non-original partitioning walls and claddings, to reveal the central concrete service core. Reinstate the characterful graphics and soft curtains while upgrading the ventilation and heating system to comply with today’s standards and low energy consumption.
