Client
Natural Trust for Scotland

On Staffa we were commissioned to design a wider jetty landing and new staircase into Fingal’s Cave and up onto the island for safer visitor flow. We furthermore assisted the client with conservation works such as repairs to footpaths and walkways.

Bio-security

Working closely with local stakeholders to learn traditional suitable methods and materials as well as the NTS’ specialist team has ensured that bio-security, archaeology, and health and safety are adhered to within the sensitive balancing of the island’s ecology with tourist access.

History

Staffa is a remote and uninhabited island located off the Island of Mull in the Western Highlands of Scotland.

All the works involved complicated transport logistics, lifts and installation methodologies for a challenging remote and uninhabited site.
